Sunset Beach NC Family Travel
Each year we make sure to plan a vacation to Sunset Beach NC. It is a hidden gem just 40 minutes north of Myrtle Beach SC. This small town island is perfect for all of your family adventures. Houses along the island are available both through rental companies and websites like AirBNB. We personally use the two large rental companies on Sunset Beach to book and have had wonderful experiences with both. The rentals run Saturday to Saturday leaving a day once you get home to recover from post vacation blues.
Here are a few of our must see things in the area!
Ice cream at Calabash Creamery. You won’t be disappointed in this hometown favorite. They make their ice cream in house and have seasonal flavors.
Sunset walks to the “wild side” well. that’s what the boys call the west end. Drive (or walk) to the west end of the island and enjoy a perfect sunset view.
Ripleys Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. Such a fun adventure! the boys enjoyed every minute of it.
Time the Tide. Head to the beach when the tide pools are out and catch minnows, crabs and possibly see some jellyfish (just careful not to touch!)
Date night at the Oyster Rock. Lets just all agree that a vacation with children is just parenting elsewhere, but if you have the opportunity to sneak out for a date night this is one of our favorite places!
